In short, if social media was a country, it would have a higher population that the world’s most populated country.

Fortunately, social media has a very large community of people and connects millions of people across the globe in a matter of seconds. Businesses are transacted on social media, news items are released on social media and revolutions in the modern world have been fueled by social media.

Apart from that, many organisations have realised the potential of this great resource and are turning to it for marketing, customer service and PR purposes. What this means is that though your parents may frown upon you for spending so much time on social media, that same activity can become your full-time job. The beauty of it is that since social media is a relatively new marketing platform, you do not require years of experience to land a job as a social media manager. All you need is a keen interest, an eye on trends and lots of creativity.

As you look for a job, consider accounting, law, medicine, but better still, consider the new age of doing things and look out for jobs in social media management.
