class="wp-block-paragraph">Kenya’s banking and finance sector has 213,970 professionals, but there were only 188 open job posts for them on LinkedIn in September 2026. That is one open post for every 1,138 professionals. Most of the sector’s talent is employed and not actively looking for a new job.

For banks and financial firms, this means the talent exists, but job adverts alone will not reach it. The strongest candidates have to be searched for and approached directly.

This report presents Kenya’s finance talent the way a bank presents its balance sheet: what the sector holds, what is moving in and out, and where demand sits. It draws on LinkedIn Talent Insights data accessed on 23 September 2026, analysed by BrighterMonday Kenya.

Key trends include banks hiring more people from tech than they lose to it, a net loss of experienced professionals to the Gulf, fast growth in controls, credit and digital skills, and a graduate pipeline that reaches well beyond Kenya’s largest universities.

Key findings

Kenya has 213,970 finance professionals across banking, financial services, insurance and investment, according to LinkedIn Talent Insights data (September 2026).

There were 188 open finance job posts on LinkedIn in Kenya in September 2026: one post for every 1,138 professionals.

Kenya has 77,395 banking professionals but only 27 open banking posts on LinkedIn.

Banking and financial services together hold about two-thirds (66%) of Kenya’s finance talent pool.

32% of Kenya’s finance professionals hold a master’s degree or MBA as their highest qualification, and 65% hold a bachelor’s degree.

Kenyan banks hired 2.7 people from tech companies for every one they lost to tech over the past 12 months (205 in, 76 out).

Kenya lost 1.9 finance professionals to the Gulf (UAE and Qatar) for every one it gained (139 out, 74 in).

The UAE is the biggest destination for Kenyan finance talent, with a net loss of 56 tracked professionals in 12 months.

London, Rwanda and Uganda send more finance professionals to Kenya than they take.

The fastest-growing skill among Kenyan finance professionals is reconciling reports (+217% year on year), followed by U.S. GAAP reporting (+100%) and credit appraisals (+69%).

The five largest job titles, all front-line roles, account for 22,120 people, led by financial advisors (6,929) and salespeople (6,186).

Pay and benefits is the top reason finance professionals choose an employer (63%), followed by career growth (58%) and learning new skills (47%).

The top 10 universities produced 9,089 recent graduates in the pool.
