Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  2. Check quality of ingredients.
  3. Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
  4. Cook foods to individualized taste of customers.
  5. Regular maintenance and cleaning of grills and other kitchen areas.
  6. Maintain regular satisfaction, cleanliness and quality at all times.
  7. Prepare food for banquets and create daily specials based on available ingredients.
  8. Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
  9. Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
  10. Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
  11. Supervise kitchen staff’s activities
  12. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  13. Manage kitchen staff
  14. Rectify arising problems or complaints
  15. Give prepared plates the “final touch”
  16. Perform administrative duties
  17. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  18. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  19. Perform routine training of other kitchen
  20. Perform preparatory work such as cutting meat, skewering meat, mixing sauces, and making vegetable garnishes.
  21. Grill and garnish hamburgers or other meats, such as steaks and chops.
  22. Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  23. Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  24. Cooking food in various utensils or grillers
  25. Planning and ordering of kitchen purchases and ensuring they are in right quality.
Minimum qualifications
  • Diploma in food and beverage production
  • Minimum 5yrs experience
  • Expertise in hot kitchen and African cuisine
