Job Description

REPORTING TO: CEO

LOCATION: Nairobi, with occasional international travel required

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The COO will work closely with other departmental heads in managing, monitoring and improving efficiency of the credit and general business processes. This role is responsible for the credit policy; float management, strategic review and enforcement of a smooth, efficient and effective lending and collections process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Credit Policy and Process

  1. Maintain business unit lending policies and recommend changes
  2. Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the business unit’s services through regular review and improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.

Financial Management

  1. Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls
  2. Undertake the business unit’s financial reporting review; revenue tracking; cost control measures; forecasting and budgeting functions
  3. Manage and control disbursement capital on mobile money platforms
  4. Set up and provide reports on key financial indicators as required

Sales & Collections

  1. Ensure KPIs are consistently achieved
  2. Oversees the full range of managerial duties for the loan review, compliance, collections, and credit analysis functions including adherence to policies and practices of the organization and applicable regulatory and governmental agencies

Strategic Analysis

  1. Play a significant role in long-term planning, including recommending and executing initiatives geared toward operational excellence
  2. Recommend and support strategic alliances geared at growing the brand, expanding market share and reducing exposure to defaults

 

ACADEMIC & TRADE QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Business Acumen

  • Operations/Finance/Management/Business based qualification
