The Head of Heavy Plant Machinery & Workshop to maintain heavy earth work equipment in constant working order and manage entire Site and Fuel consumption.

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor
  • Experience Level: Mid level
  • Experience Length: 5 years

Job Description

LOCATION: TIMAU

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Equipment

  1. Ensure that machinery is properly handled
  2. Ensure security around equipment/machinery
  3. Oversee mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  4. Identify problems and provide solutions - Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  5. Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency. 

Site Management

  1. Ensure Security is continuously in force and that equipment is properly secured when not in use
  2. Correct disposal of excavation waste
  3. Dam maintenance

Workshop

  1. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts – liaise with Head Office on parts requisitions
  2. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
  3. Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records
  4. Ensure optimisation and proper diesel and fuel usage

People Management

  1. Ensure discipline across Plant operators and Workshop teams
  2. Manage Tipper Truck Drivers and Operatives

  

Key Competencies: 

  • Mature, Qualified Mechanical Engineer
  • Proven hands-on experience in similar role
  • Must have a keen eye /Attention to Detail – being able to troubleshoot and fix problems
  • Physically strong for heavy plant manipulation and manual dexterity
  • Familiar with electronics, be able to read blueprints, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs.
