Job Description

A Logistic Officer must oversee and coordinate various tasks in order to maintain adequate levels of food, water and other supplies and equipment for military or other personnel. Logistic Officer Responsibilities and Duties

Ø  Develop logistics along with support plans, budget requirements and deployment timelines for new operations.

Ø  Develop logistical plans for current operations and logistics contingency plans.

Ø  Prepare plans for liquidation and downsizing.

Ø  Develop and execute tools and methodologies to enable effective implementation of logistic plans.

Ø  Design and develop standard operating methods to manage logistics operations efficiently.

Ø  Ensure accountable, timely and cost-effective release of peacekeeping cargos along with personnel.

Ø  Ensure all supervised staff members are trained as well as cross-trained adequately.

Ø  Identify added logistic training requirements to attain high working standards.

Ø  Coordinate and present logistics support to ongoing land, air, rail and river operations.

Ø  Ensure logistics requirements take gender-specific needs into consideration.

Ø  Coordinate logistics activities related to procurement, funding, substantive units and humanitarian affairs.

Ø  Develop and execute logistics support policy, processes and methodologies to general benefit of all mission units.

Ø  Develop reports on material and personnel movements and various operational logistics problems.

Ø  Involve in technical survey missions for new assignments and pre-deployment corroboration visits

Ø  Guide and oversee performance of new and junior logistics officers.


Education and Skills required

Ø  Degree/diploma in supply chain management, business operations, or related field

Ø  The successful Logistic Officer will possess strong organizational, customer service and communication skills.

Ø  They would be detail-oriented team players with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Ø  As Logistic Officers typically work with computers and warehouse equipment, strong technical and mechanical skills are helpful. In addition to these general skills, a Logistic Officer could be expected by potential employers to possess the following skill

Ø  Understanding warehouse and inventory computer systems

Ø  Creating delivery routes and schedules

Ø  Understanding safety/security processes and procedures
