Kidogo is a small, innovative organization making a BIG splash in the global Early Childhood space through our network of daycares & pre-schools. We are looking for a passionate, resourceful Marketing & Communications Coordinator to help spread the word about Kidogo within the communities we work in. If you are a self-starter with an eye on marketing, this might be the position for you!
Kidogo is a start-up social enterprise that improves access to high-quality early childhood care & education in East Africa’s low-income communities through a ‘hub & spoke’ model. First, we operate best-practice early childhood ‘hubs’ that provide all the building blocks young children (0-6 years) need to thrive including safe, child-friendly environments, certified teachers, a play-based curriculum and health & nutrition program – all for less than $1 per day. Leveraging our hubs, we then partner with local women in the community (“mamapreneurs”) and provide them with training, mentorship and tools to improve the quality & profitability of their existing childcare centers (or spokes) through a social franchising approach. To date, Kidogo has provided nearly 2 million hours of quality childcare to families living in Nairobi’s urban informal settlements (slums) and has plans to expand across East Africa. ESSENCE OF THE ROLE
Your role will be to interact with internal and external stakeholders to improve Kidogo’s brand awareness in the communities that we work in so that we can grow our footprint across the country.

You will be solely in charge of Kidogo’s marketing and promotion activities both locally in the communities we work in, and nationally. You’ll be situated within Kidogo’s operations team, reporting to the head of the department, while working closely with Kidogo’s hub and spokes managers, as well as head teachers and field staff.

- Develop Kidogo’s overall marketing
- Develop promotional/marketing content to increase
Kidogo’s brand awareness in the informal settlements in order to increase
enrollment and attract new daycares
- Identify and develop new market opportunities for Kidogo in the informal settlements
- Carry out customer surveys to understand demand and
manage brand positioning
- Lead the design of parent newsletters and other
community engagement tools
- Conduct market research and analysis to better understand target customers, evaluate trends and brand awareness
Communications / Promotion:
- Organize and oversee all communication and
promotional activities, campaigns (social media, newspaper etc.), exhibitions
and promotional events
- Liaise with media, printers, graphic designers and
publishers as required and manage the production of marketing materials such as
leaflets, flyers, posters and newsletters,
- Assist in reporting and documentation for funders, investors
and other stakeholders
- Assist in event management, where required

EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND:
You must have:
- Bachelor’s degree
in marketing, communications, business or equivalent
- 3+ years of
professional experience in marketing or related field
- Excellent verbal
and written communication skills
- Be comfortable
designing basic brochures, flyers, posters etc.
- Comfort with social
media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- English and Swahili
- Willingness to
commit a minimum of 2 years
It would be great if you had:
- Previous exposure /
experience in urban informal settlements or lower income communities
- Experience working
in a start-up environment, including human-centered design thinking
