Cereal Growers Association (CGA) is a national non-profit member-based farmer organization incorporated in August 1996, to bring cereal farmers together in addressing industry challenges in Kenya. CGA works with industry stakeholders such as agricultural input suppliers, financial institutions, insurance companies, output buyers, development partners, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), relevant Government of Kenya (GoK) agencies and others to provide services to its members. CGA aspires to be a leading agribusiness solutions provider through evidence-based advocacy, facilitating business linkages and strategic partnerships.

CGA seeks to fill the position of a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant to be based in Nairobi.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager with a dotted line to the Project Officer, the M&E assistant will work with the M&E team to ensure that the CGA programs M&E needs are being met.

Key roles and responsibilities

i)                    Monitor & track progress of all the projects activities and giving feedback to the project team & other stakeholders in the public & private sector.

ii)                   Conduct Program monitoring of the day to day activities and ensure feedback is given to the team.

iii)                 Conduct project surveys

iv)                 Documents lessons learnt for knowledge management

v)                   Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual updates to the Program Officers and the Project Coordinator.

vi)                 Provide data analysis to check the quality of the data from field reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual).

vii)               Ensure that Indicator Performance Tracking Tables (IPTTs) are accurately updated.

viii)              Ensure that means of verification of different results (supporting documents) are in place.

ix)                 Develop various data collection tools.

x)                   Undertake accurate project data collection and entry.

xi)                 Assist the project personnel with the necessary M & E tools and support them in their use.

xii)                Be the point of contact in management of the farmer recruitment and management tool

xiii)              Take lead in digital inscription of questionnaires into online data collection tools like KOBO collect


Requirements

i)        Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture related field, statistics or social sciences;

ii)       At least 3 years working experience;

iii)     Ability to work with minimum supervision and meet strict deadlines;

iv)     Experience working with online data tools like ODK, Survey CTO, KOBO collect etc.

v)       Ability to generate and present quality project reports

vi)     Proficient with Ms office suite- Must particularly be very good with Ms Excel

vii)   Ability to use at least one statistical package like SPSS, Nvivo etc

 

Skills

i)                    Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and training skills;

ii)                   Excellent IT skills in Microsoft packages;

iii)                 Analytical skills

iv)                 Strong report writing skills.
