Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide advice for non-prescription medications
  2. Oversee sale of prescribed medicines to our clients and generate revenue by calculating, recording, and issuing charges;
  3. Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs and re-order level to prevent stockout
  4. Maintains records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions;
  5. Maintain internal and external safeguards regarding storage and dispensing of pharmacy products by complying with procedures, protocols, rules, and regulations;
  6. Maintain detailed, meticulous records of all use of medicines, especially of controlled substances;
  7. Preparing sales reports on a daily basis
  8. Monitor drugs and other medical supplies levels and initiate the procurement process.
  9. Monitor storage conditions i.e. expiry status and security of the pharmaceuticals
  10. Providing outstanding levels of patient care
  11. Receiving and collecting prescriptions following the SOPs as required by the PPB
  12. Assembling and labeling medicines with the full description of contents etc as laid down in the SOPs
  13. Advising Patients on their medications, taking into consideration relevant drug data sheet information
  14. Being an active member of the Pharmacy team that delivers & promotes in store Professional Services.
  15. Ordering dispensary stock, checking and accepting deliveries and updating the stock control system.
  16. Stocking shelves, stock rotation, and date checking
  17. Undertaking other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Head of Department.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required:

Essential

  • Proven selling & customer service skills
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to keep patients information confidential
  • Stock ordering/control systems experience
  • Be a holder of Diploma/Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
  • Must be registered and licensed by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons board (PPB)
  • Vast pharmaceutical products knowledge
  • At least two years’ working experience in a busy  pharmacy environment
  • Knowledge of health management information system(HMIS) Medicentre system would be preferred.
