Job Description

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) (Formerly Energy Regulatory Commission) is a State Corporation established under the Energy Act 2019. The Authority is the energy and petroleum sectors regulatory agency responsible for Economic and Technical

Regulation of Electric Power, Renewable Energy and Petroleum. The Authority is seeking to recruit suitable qualified, experienced, result-oriented and highly motivated Kenyan citizens to fill the following vacant positions:

DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATE SERVICES

PRINCIPAL DRIVER, JOB GRADE – EPRA 7

Reporting to the Principal Administration Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of safe and timely transportation of authorized goods and passengers as well as the good maintenance of EPRA vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

i. Carrying out routine checks on vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems and tyre pressure;

ii. Coordinating, detecting and reporting vehicle defects on time;

iii. Ensuring cleanliness of all EPRA vehicles;

iv. Driving the vehicle as authorized;

v. Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers and goods therein;

vi. Maintaining daily work tickets for all Motor Vehicles;

vii. Ensuring routine service and maintenance of the vehicle;

viii. Timely reporting of accidents and follow up of police abstract;

ix. Vehicle inspection and keeping up-to-date insurance documents;

x. Supervising and guiding junior drivers

xi. Mentoring and coaching other drivers

xii. Assist in developing performance targets for drivers

xiii. Assist in developing work plans

xiv. Advise and supervise vehicle maintenance

xv. Advise on ways to improve operational economies involving vehicles;

Qualifications & Skills required

Person Specifications

i. At least ten (10) years’ relevant work experience

ii. Have KCSE mean grade D+ (plus) or equivalent qualification;

iii. Valid Class BCE Driving License free from any endorsement

iv. Trade Test for Drivers Grade I;

v. Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week in the previous three (3) years.

vi. First Aid Certificate

vii. Defensive driving

viii. Proficiency in computer application

ix. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

i. Supervisory skills

ii. Good Communication and reporting skills

iii. Good Interpersonal skills

 

Other requirements

i. Applicants are required to provide a detailed CV indicating their current and previous employers, positions held, current and expected salary, names of at least three professional referees, education and professional certificates together with a copy of national identity card or passport.

ii. The candidates will additionally be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and provide:

iii. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;

iv. Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);

v. Tax compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);

vi. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and

vii. Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
