•    Provides leadership and participates in healthcare delivery by hospital staff ensuring continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency
•    Maximizes performance of Hospital staff through effective deployment, support, development and motivation
•    Ensures development, proper utilization, protection and maintenance of hospital facilities, equipment and supplies
•    Puts in place structures and systems to offer efficient healthcare services provision outside Magadi
•    Accountable for sound management of department’s financial resources ensuring achievement of short and long term business plans
•    Ensures that partnerships and collaboration with other stake holders in healthcare service provision and related fields is enhanced

Principal Accountabilities:

•    Provide professional leadership and management to hospital staff in healthcare delivery
•    Participate in day to day patient care activities – review patients, conduct ward rounds, carry out surgical procedures, respond to duty calls etc
•    Oversee and coordinate the delivery of healthcare services by hospital staff ensuring consistently high standards of patient service are achieved and maintained
•    Establish and maintain high standards clinical and environmental hygiene ensuring infection prevention and control
•    Promote the need for continuous improvement in the provision of health services and operational efficiency
•    Ensure development, proper implementation and regular review of emergency/disaster plan preparedness and response
•    Ensure clinical and other targets are achieved by hospital workforce
•    Maximizing performance of Hospital Staff
•    Participate in hospital staff recruitment, appraisal, training and development process.
•    Help provide a conducive and enabling working environment for staff
•    Ensure an efficient, effective, and engaged workforce
•    Plan for, encourage, lead and participate in continuing medical education for staff
•    Act as a role model to medical staff for the application of the company values and policies
•    Infrastructure development and maintenance
•    Ensure hospital buildings and equipment are protected and properly maintained
•    Ensure availability, protection and proper utilization of medical supplies
•    Ensure the ICT infrastructure in place is appropriately supporting efficient service delivery
•    Provide information, advice and updates on new guidelines and policies on health, disease and their management.
•    Ensure safety and security within the hospital premises
•    Financial management activities
•    Provide leadership in development, management and review of departmental budget
•    Ensure budgets are consistent with the company strategy and direction
•    Ensure budgets are successfully delivered
•    Partnerships/collaboration/advise activities
•    Ensure constant contact with other departments and sections within the organization as necessary e.g. occupational safety and wellness
•    Provide sound advice/Propose changes and developments to senior management on range and method of health service delivery
•    Maintain a healthy working relationship with central government regulatory agencies on matters of standards and compliance
•    Actively engage with County Department of Health Services
•    Participate as appropriate in external activities which contribute to the standing and reputation of the Hospital
•    Consult and network with other healthcare providers as necessary


•    Holder of Medical degree with Medical Board registration and certification
•    Registered as a practitioner by the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists Board with a valid practicing license
•    Over 8 years post registration experience with 2 years in health service management


•    In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, procedures and standards
•    Ability to balance the duties of a physician with that of an administrator
•    Ability to lead as well as work with a multi-disciplinary team
•    Possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
•    Personal resilience, integrity and compassion
