Job Description/Requirements

The National Youth Service (NYS) is a State Corporation established under section 5 (1) of the NYS Act, 2018. The functions of the Service as provided in the Act are to undertake paramilitary training technical & vocational training, nation building programmes and commercialization of its assets to optimize utilization of resources, hence creating a critical mass of skilled Kenyan Youth.

In line with its mandate, the Service is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

Salary Scale NYS: Kshs. 22,270 x 1,040 - 23A10x 1,070 -24,380 x 1,090 - 25,470 x 1,110-26,580 x 1,120 - 27,700 x1,150 - 28,850 x 1,170 - 30,020 P.M

Allowances
House Allowance    (As per duty station)   
Commuter Allowance Kshs. 4,000 P.M
Leave allowance    Kshs. 4,000 P.A

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of Animal Health Assistant II will entail:

Carrying out simple treatment of animals; participating in disease search and reporting; demonstration on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting; carrying out vaccination; and undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-warming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming.

Person Specification
For appointment to this post, the candidate must have;

1. Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following discipline: Animal Health, Environmental Health, and Production from a recognized institution;
2.  Be registered by Kenya Veterinary Board;
3.  Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution; and
4.   Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.

Applicants who meet the above requirements should send their application letters in a sealed envelope marked with the title of the position being applied for together with detailed curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic certificates, testimonials, and national identity card/passport.

In addition, applicants are required to attach certified copies of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Certificate of clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Credit Reference Bureau and a compliance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
