Animal Husbandry Intern

Duties:

•  Daily animal care including feeding, watering, grooming, and cleaning of animal quarters. 
• Contribute to an animal care plan for each type of livestock and adjust as needed.
•  Monitor animal feed and other supplies, and track when reordering is needed .
• Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior. Notify managers and veterinarians as needed.
•  Harvesting, butchering and processing of livestock.
•  Record keeping on animal welfare, growth, feeding, breeding, harvesting.
•  Ensure that all food self-sufficiency actions conserve and promote the health of local ecosystems and biodiversity Qualifications and Skills.
• An interest in working with animals.
•  Ability to lift heavy loads and perform daily physical work.
•  Ability to share knowledge and promote community engagement with food self-sufficiency initiatives.
• Ability empathetically observe and respond to animal needs.
•  Ability to support with landscaping and food cultivation.

Qualifications 

Certificate in any agricultural field.
