Position: Assistant Fisheries Officer III Job Group CPSB 11 (4 Posts)
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,470 x 1,110 – 26,580 x 1,120 – 27,700 x 1,150 – 28,850 x 1,170 – 30,020 x 1,250 – 31,270 x 1,300 – 32,570 x 1380 – 33,950 p.m.
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under guidance of a more experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:-
i. Participate in fish quality assurance activities and marketing;
ii. Monitor, Control and Surveilance (MCS) of fisheries resources;
iii. Conduct group training, field days, and providing technical advice to fishers;
iv. Monitor water bodies for signs of pollution, invasive weeds and alien fish species
v. Monitor siltation of rivers, lakes and government fish farms
vi. Enforce fisheries regulations;
vii. Inspect fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms;
viii. Promot fish marketing and value addition; and
ix. Collecting and compiling fisheries statistical data.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must: -
i. Be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade C (plain) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
iii. Have a diploma in either Fisheries Management, Natural Resource Management or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and
iv. Have a certificate in computer applications from a recognised institution.
