Job Summary
The Assistant is responsible of assisting the chef in food preparation and presentation. He/She can perform all duties in the absence of the chef. He/she is also responsible for plating dishes, storing food, testing recipes, maintaining supplies and keeping the cooking area clean and organized.

Term of Service : 3-months’ probation period, renewable to 1-year contract upon satisfactory performance).

Main Purpose & Scope of the Job
The Assistant is responsible of assisting the chef in food preparation and presentation. He/She can perform all duties in the absence of the chef. He/she is also responsible for plating dishes, storing food, testing recipes, maintaining supplies and keeping the cooking area clean and organized.
Duties and Responsibilities;
• Daily meals preparation and cooking.
• Plating the meals in a creative and appealing manner.
• Maintaining hygiene in the kitchen.
• Implementing and leading the food safety program.
• Monitoring workplace health and safety inspections.
• Monitoring utilities and maintenance needs.
• Approving food and non-food store requisitions.
• Collecting meal data for and reporting to the Chef.
• Assist in monitoring stocks levels.
• Assists in training of lower cadre staff in the kitchen.
• Any other duty that will be assigned by the Head Chef.
• Work with the chef to coordinate and carryout the preparation of meals.
• Plating the meals in a creative and appealing manner.
• Maintain quality control and satisfaction records.
• Follow food handling procedures and guiding principles.
• Whenever necessary assist the cleaners with the general clean-up in the kitchen after meals.
• Any other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications.
• Certificate in Food Production.
• Proven experience in the same role in busy restaurant.
• An up-to-date Medical Food Handlers Certificate
• Flexible and able to work for long hours.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene.
• Works well under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills
• Good attention to detail.
• Great Team player.
