1. CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER —JARAMOGI TEACHING AND REFERRAL HOSPITAL — (JOOTRH) JG CPSB 02 REF. NO. KCPSB/01 /2021/03 (1 POST)
Terms of service: Three (3) years' Contract
The job holder will report to the Chief Officer Health and Sanitation and will be responsible for providing leadership and management in the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Has overall responsibility for delivery of quality primary, secondary, and specialized healthcare. This includes ensuring clinical practices that guarantee high quality outcomes, providing supervision and advise on clinical activities including both outpatient and inpatient services, ward rounds and surgical interventions;
ii. Promoting a culture of learning and keeping up-to-date on diagnostic and treatment practices;
iii. Ensures and /or leads teams to conduct needs assessments and clinical studies and surveys as appropriate and with adherence to national and international ethics;
iv. Develop and implement strategies to ensure that employees comply with Kenya Quality Model for Health guidelines and other international standards;
v. Monitor service quality and investigate incidents and complaints in the hospital;
vi. Chair the Hospital's Management Team (HMT)meetings;
vii. Promote the use and internal consumption of data within the facility to inform decisions impacting patient care, financial management and critical outcomes.
viii. Provide leadership in the development of the hospital's training school.
ix. Serves as the prime cosignatory for all the hospital's Bank accounts or may designate a signatory when required.
x. Represents and manages the relationship and communication between the hospital, sub-county, County, departmental and National health authorities with local and international donors.
xi. Ensure that the reports tied to donor contracts and/or MO U are completed, timely and with a high level of detail and quality to ensure clarity, compliance, transparency and professionally presented.
xii. Ensure compliance with the National Values and Principles of good governance as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya;
Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, a person should:
i. Have a Bachelor's degree in Medicine (MB ChB, BDS, MD). or equivalent
ii. Have a masters' degree in Medicine, Public Health (MPH), Health Services Planning and Management or MBA from a recognized institution.
iii. Be licensed and certified by the Medical Practitioners and dentist Board
iv. Have a minimum of 15 years' experience in health sector, five (5) of which should be at a senior management level in a referral Hospital.
v. Have sufficient knowledge of clinical practices, procedures and standards.
vi. Have excellent skills in the design and development of a hospital service delivery system, structures and procedures
vii. Have ability to create partnerships that foster teamwork and networking both within the hospital, Government and across the health sector.
viii. Satisfy the requirements of chapter 6 of the Constitution.
Salaries are as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
