Job Description/Requirements

Job title: Child and Family Specialist (CFS)
1.    Place within the organization
-    endorses the mission and vision of KidsCare Kenya;
-    is a member of the team of KidsCare Kenya;
-    is as Specialist accountable for the progress/ implementation and monitoring of Child and Family care services for Children with Special Abilities (CSA);
-    is Assistant Manager of the Head of CSA Department;
-    works close together with the other program managers;
-    maintains and increases contacts with colleagues to realize all needed specialized services for children;  

2.    Reporting to
-    is reporting to the Head of Department;
-    is first responsible for managing the care services of CSA Department, including to direct the CSA social workers and OT;
-    is responsible for the quality of the Child and family care including also the planning; coordinating, and monitoring the case load, benchmarks, case files. If needed, the CFS provide consultation and coaching to the social workers/ OT.

3.    Job content as Supervisor
-    To organise, supervise, record and assess child contact with an awareness of safeguarding the child;
-    To provide concise, relevant and accurate recording of contact sessions and discussion with other professional and agencies in line with internal policy and procedural guidance;
-    To intervene and act in accordance with safeguarding procedures within your centre and in accordance with those of the Local Safeguarding Board and referring agency;
-    To ensure that you that your service is operating within anti- discriminatory practice by providing a culturally appropriate service;
-    To provide supervision, organise team meetings and monitor training, organise training needs of your staff team;
-    To organise, prioritise and manage workload under your own initiative in a creative and flexible approach.
-    Any other duty assigned.
4.    Job content as Assistant Manager
-    Is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the different programs and activities for the CSA department;
-    is responsible for all activities that KidsCare is doing for children within the CSA program and their environment including organizing, coordinating, assistance, guidance therapy and support;
-    supervises, monitors and ensures all the operations of the CSA department are run in a smooth way and successfully in line with the mission and vision of the organization and the organizations policy and procedures;
-    Assist the Head of Department in developing, monitoring and reporting all CSA programs, policy plans and (project) activities;
-    Professionally conduct regular inspections of the entire project processes and property and                 avail reports;
-    Leads and control the CSA team  in doing all program activities in their locations/ villages;
-    Identify and implement creative solutions to trouble shoot project problems;
-    Organizes and/or gives training and/or does team activities to strengthen the CSA team;
-    Together with the Head of department improves the quality and efficiency of all social, health and economic services/programs/activities from the CSA department  to her beneficiaries
-    Actively seek to build and maintain cordial relationships with clients and stakeholders
-    Is responsible for the assistance, guidance and support of CSA’s and their caregivers that come to the KidsCare Centre;
-    Plans with the Head of Department in developing, organizing and monitoring special projects/program;
-    Ensure proper and complete records on clients are well  kept  and updated regularly
-    Any other duty assigned;

5.    Job profile
-    Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work, project planning, Family or Child Studies;
-    is able to work under difficult circumstances, help children with specials abilities and their caretakers;
-    Experience in proposal writing is an added advantage
-    is able to work on a computer;
-    has knowledge on counseling;-
-    able to work independently;
-    is able to take feedback and ready to learn.
