Clinical Officer/Registered Nurse

Job Summary

We are looking for a disciplined mature professional to give health services to children 3 to 20 years. The candidate should have leadership qualities to supervise matrons/housemothers who take care of the children in the dormitories

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor
  • Experience Level: Mid level
  • Experience Length: 5 years

Job Description/Requirements

•    Report to work at work 7.30am to 4.30pm and follow up with boarding children at 6.30 – 7.15pm.
•    Promote and protect the optimal health status of School going children.
•    Give direct care to students who need general treatment, emergency care due to injury or who present with an acute illness and refer to major ailments to hospital for further management. 
•    Keep daily records of children seen/received at the infirmary and advice management on progress if not referred home to parents. 
•    Understand each student’s medical background and maintaining an updated record of all medication in the infirmary and tracking student medical history.
•    Compile a list of children conditions and allergies, share with caterer. 
•    Promote and assist in the control of communicable disease and communicate with Management if there are two or more confirmed cases.
•    Promote a safe and healthy school environment free from alcohol and substance use and provide necessary advice to school administration about potential risks.
•    To send billed itemized drugs/medical supplies to Finance Department monthly.
•    Sensitize the staff members and conduct in-service training for first aid every term.
•    Participate in School health and safety committee.
•    Inspecting various facilities e.g catering, hostels, toilets, bathrooms, laundry area, classroom when pupils are away from the facilities and appraise the level of hygiene and cleanliness.
•    Coordinate food handlers medicals conducted by KEMRI at the appropriate time
•    Liaise with the County in-charge of M.O.H on National immunization programmes and participate appropriately by involving parents.
•    Monitoring and ensuring that all the required tools of work are in good condition.
•    Be the front runner in sensitization of Protocols e.g. current COVID-19.
