Our mission is to catalyse a sustainable blue revolution by establishing Native Species Aquaculture practices that support food security, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability in the Lake Tanganyika region.
Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial/Business Manager to oversee all non-farming operations at Tanganyika Blue. This role is critical in driving the commercial success and operational efficiency of our aquaculture farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, human resources, sales, commercial activities, and regulatory compliance, with a proven track record in building and leading high-performing teams. A keen interest in learning and adapting to the unique challenges of the aquaculture industry is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales and Commercial Operations:
- Drive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners.
- Oversee pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and commercial agreements.
2. Finance Management:
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure the company's financial health.
3. Human Resources:
- Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives to build a strong, motivated team.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement and retention.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and international regulations related to aquaculture, environmental standards, and corporate governance.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and licenses for business operations.
5. Team Building and Leadership:
- Build and lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational and strategic objectives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
6. Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development and execution of the company's long-term strategic goals.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, market trends, and industry innovations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the agriculture, aquaculture, or related sectors.
- Proven experience in managing finance, sales, and regulatory functions.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading effective teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A keen interest in sustainable development and the aquaculture industry.
