Job Summary

The Communications Manager job is a mid-level, management role. The Communications Manager will create, implement and oversee communications programs internally and externally, that effectively describe and promote KOAN and its services. This role provides supervision and direction to staff and often works in conjunction with the programs dept.

Job Description/Requirements

Communications Manager Roles & Responsibilities

       i.         Oversee all internal and external communications for KOAN, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging.

      ii.         Request For Proposal (RFP) review and development.

     iii.         Communications budget development and cost tracking.

     iv.         Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build, brand awareness of both KOAN and associated Brands (Kilimohai Organic, Kenya Organic Avocado), and members satisfaction.

      v.         Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials.

     vi.         Lead the marketing and public relations activities.

   vii.         Collaborate with other teams to identify the public voice of KOAN.

  viii.         Create style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising and other vital departments.

    ix.         Consult with KOAN management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations or crises.

     x.         Advice the KOAN management on ways and strategies of improving the organization image, publicity, reach and impact.

    xi.         Participate in staff activities such as trainings, meetings, write shops or any other as communicated by the management.

   xii.         Develop communications plan/strategy based on KOAN Organization strategy

  xiii.         Implement communications plan/strategy.

  xiv.         Develop and catalogue institutional information to be accessible to members, public and other stakeholders.

   xv.         Organize and communicate KOAN events regularly to members and other stakeholders.

  xvi.         Document and inform members and general public on KOAN’s activities to include quarterly e-bulletin, articles and commentaries online and in print media.

 xvii.         Identify and participate in workshops, conferences and events to promote KOAN past, present and future work.
