Job Summary

The Community & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for online and offline marketing & community management of the Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa. As the primary contact for community members and the brand ambassador, this role significantly contributes to building an empowering community of entrepreneurs and enhancing the global Westerwelle Foundation brand. the person holds significant responsibility in building an empowering community of entrepreneurs, as well as strengthening the global Westerwelle Foundation brand. The Community & Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the local Country Director, as well as the global Director of Community and Marketing from the Berlin office

About Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa

Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa is set to become the newest hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in the heart of Mombasa, joining the Westerwelle Foundation global network. Headquartered in Berlin, the foundation currently operates hubs in Rwanda, Tanzania, and Tunisia, and runs support programmes focused on business ideation, proof of concept, and international acceleration. The Mombasa hub will enhance Kenya's entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing a collaborative space for startups and stakeholders to meet, develop their skills, and connect with an international network of startups and support resources.


Responsibilities:

Community & Space Management:

• Oversee reception operations and handle adhoc member requests (e.g., room booking, printing).

• Maintain robust relationships with all community members, including co-working spaces, program participants (startup founders), and partners.

• Implement space improvements, manage inventory ordering, and handle co-working contract administration.

• Ensure timely payment collection from co-working members and manage member onboarding and Nexudus & CRM updates.

• Oversee access control to the space, including biometric registrations and removals.

• Manage the community platform on WhatsApp, responding actively to all messages and posts.

• Conduct satisfaction surveys to gather member feedback for continuous improvement.

• Connect members to the broader Westerwelle Foundation network, enhancing their growth and networking opportunities.


Event Management:

• Manage Event inquiries, manage conference room bookings, and prepare client proposals and quotations.

• Organize and coordinate community events, supporting larger program events as needed.

• Manage relationships with event suppliers and coordinate event logistics, including space preparation and contracting marketing services.

• Oversee all marketing activities related to events to ensure brand consistency and engagement.


Social Media & Content Creation:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive social media and marketing strategy.

• Manage the content calendar for all social media channels, creating and posting content across platforms like Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

• Engage with the online community by responding to comments and messages promptly.

• Coordinate photoshoots and video projects, tailoring content to program-specific needs.


Marketing & Sales:

• Handle inquiries regarding co-working and events through various channels including email, phone, and walk-ins.

• Drive co-working sales initiatives and conduct tours for potential clients.

• Manage email campaigns and create content for press and media relations.

• Update the website and produce marketing materials to support promotional activities.

• Foster relationships with ecosystem partners and increase brand visibility through attendance at relevant meetups and events.

• Gathers feedback from members through satisfaction surveys and connects WSH members to the international Westerwelle Foundation network.


Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or a related field. Additional qualifications in digital marketing/community management are advantageous.

• At least 3 years of experience in community building, marketing, social media management, and public relations.

• Proven track record of managing online and offline marketing strategies and community management.

• Experience in event management, including planning, organizing, and coordinating events is an advantage.

• Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English and Swahili; knowledge of other languages like German is a plus.

• A proactive, creative mindset with a strong ability to engage and inspire a community.


Skills and Competencies:

• Proficient in digital marketing tools and platforms.

• Strong people management skills, capable of fostering a collaborative work environment and driving community engagement.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient in engaging effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Proficient in strategic planning and project management tools such as Asana, facilitating

effective events and social media campaign coordination.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement KPIs to monitor engagement and campaign success.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and think, plan, and execute resourcefully.

• Experienced in networking and clearly communicating in front of groups.
