Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. It is one of the hospitals in East Africa accredited by the Joint Commission International from USA. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 60 years.
The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi Outreach Division is a rapidly growing network of 53 medical centres spread over East Africa. These medical centres feature three to five consulting rooms with a practice that is home to qualified medical officers, highly-experienced nurses and constant reception cover. The clinics offer an on-site pharmacy and laboratory as well as radiology and sonography services. There is high expectation for staff to provide high quality professional services.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The incumbent will be responsible for providing quality and comprehensive Oral Health Care and Dental Services using the most up to date techniques and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Examine, diagnose and treat general oral diseases and carry out emergency dental procedures. Counsel patients on oral hygiene instruction and demonstrate techniques to achieve this. Experience in rotary endodontics and fixed prosthetic works eg: ceramic crown, bridges, veneers. Records care provided in electronic health record system accurately and completely, reflecting the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. Complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or documents as required. Liaise with Consultants on adequate referral and follow up on specialized cases Supervise dental auxiliary staff to ensure application of proper technique and update staff on new practices and procedure. Follows policies and procedures as stipulated by JCIA and SafeCare guidelines for patient care to formulate best practice guidelines.Requirements:
Bachelors of Dental Surgery Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) At least 2 years of relevant experience in general dentistry. Preferable certification in Rotary Endodontics and Fixed Prosthodontics. Experience in implementation of quality and patient safety programsImportant Safety Tips
