DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR - ACADEMICS, RESEARCH AND STUDENTS AFFAIRS
Basic Salary: - Ksh.427,427- Ksh.547,106 p.m.
House Allowance: -Ksh.82,704 p.m.
Medical Cover & Other Allowances: -As provided by the University College
Terms of Service -Five (5) years contract (Renewable once) subject to satisfactory performance.
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:
(i) be at least an Associate Professor of a recognized University with an earned PhD from a University recognized in Kenya;
(ii) have served successfully for a period of at least three (3) years as a Principal of a Constituent or Campus College, Dean or a Director of an academic unit or Directorate of a University;
(iii) have at least eight (8) years academic, research and administrative experience as a senior lecturer; and
(iv) be a person of integrity in accordance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and working under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor - Academics, Research and Student Affairs will be:
(i) ensuring that the University Senate is properly and promptly advised on the development of academic, research, innovations and student matters in conformity with set standards, guidelines and requirements of statutory and professional bodies;
(ii) responsible for promoting and coordinating research and research outputs, scientific publications, innovation, extension and technology transfer to industry and the community;
(iii) mobilizing funds for the furtherance of the academic mission of the university;
(iv) coordinating academic linkages and collaborations;
(v) implementing and monitoring academic research, innovation and student affairs policies, rules and regulations;
(vi) overseeing development and review of academic programmes;
(vii) developing and monitoring implementing of divisional plans, performance targets and budgets;
(viii) monitoring, assuring and enhancing quality and standards of academic matters in the university;
(ix) in charge of students’ welfare, discipline, counseling, chaplaincy, work study, placement, bursary allocation and management as provided by the university policies;
(x) overseeing the Student Council matters;
(xi) overseeing the co-ordination of student entertainment, sports, cultural, recreation and co-curricular activities;
(xii) preparing and submitting periodic reports on the overall status of the division to the Vice-Chancellor; and
(xiii) undertaking such other responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor
