VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS, CULTURE, GENDER & YOUTH AFFAIRS.

2. Director Sports and Youth Affairs ~ KSM/CPSB/12/1 1/2022.

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Develop and Implement youth, culture, sports and recreational programs and policies;
•    Creation of awareness on sport, youth and cultural activities in the County including following up on Implementation of related projects;
•    Supervise sports, culture and youth personnel, coordinate and regulate workers in developing sports, youth and culture programs;
•    Oversee the improvement and maintenance of sports, youth and cultural facilities in the county;
•    Coordinate and promote ward, sub-county, inter-county and national sports programs
•    Coordinate the development of a strategic plan for the youth, sports and culture department;
•    Formulate an annual budget for the department;
•    Develop youth — friendly strategies;
•    Provide leadership in the management of youth and cultural groups;
•    Develop linkages with stakeholders involved in cultural, youth and sports affairs;
•    Develop a work plan on inter and intra county youth involvement
•    Organizing, developing and delivering a varied range of cultural activities or programmes
•    Liaising and working with relevant organisations or agencies including cultural site officials among others.
•    Program development: enhance the quality of current programs; develop/find new innovative arts and cultural programming.
•    Collaborative partnership development: increase agency collaborations both internally and externally, ability to recognize cultural opportunities and maximize their potential
•    Formulate budget proposals and expenditure controls.
•    Formulate, coordinate and review policies on sports, youth, culture and arts development.
•    Interpret and implement the departmental strategic plan and medium-term plan.
•    Identify and promote cultural groups, activities and sites,
•    Monitor and evaluate sports, youth and cultural programs and projects.
•    Promote research on sports, youth, culture and arts development
•    Perform such other functions as ma be delegated from time to time

Qualifications
•    Be a Kenyan Citizen
•    Bachelor’s degree in social Sciences/arts or its equivalent from a recognized institution, Master’s degree in Social Sciences/Arts from a recognized institution
•    Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution,
•    Minimum ten (10) years’ experience three (3) of which should be at a senior level in the public service or a comparable position in the private sector
•    Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution
•    Thorough understanding of provisions of Sports and Gender Policies and have the ability to relate them to County Development Goals
