Job Details
Reporting directly to the Processing Supervisor, the Food Quality Intern responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Take lead role in daily processing floor setting including creating walk-ways, refreshing areas (Drinking water sections), proper access/exit routes, processing crates stacking within processing hall.
• Proper control of fish flow onto gutting/scaling tables to ensure there is no piling of fish which may result in some fish taking long before being processed.
• Organizing casuals/labor and create a quality management team from within the casuals.
• Ensure sufficient water supply to all processing tables at all times.
• Monitor constant refreshing of fish cleaning water in the cleaning boxes.
• Ensure proper fish cleaning, proper sizing, packaging and labelling of crates and cool boxes after processing.
• Ensure standard cleanliness and storage of all processing equipment including but not limited to the following: Processing floors, cold-room, Knives, weighing scales Processing tables.
• Ensure sufficient availability of ice and therefore enough supply to lakeshore/harvest platform.
• Ensure that all fish arriving from lakeshore is properly iced and covered.
• Have an eye on the unclogging of drainage systems within processing.
• Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
• A Diploma/ degree in food technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Good computer skills: MS Excel, MS Word. Receiving Software, Inventory system.
• Able to work under pressure and long hours.
• Well-organized and detail oriented.
• Strong safety and hygiene awareness.
• Fluent in English.
