Job objective
As the Head of Production, you will assist the Production Manager with the overall management of the Packhouse, Production and Technical operations and cover the Shift Production Managers in their absence.
Your tasks and responsibilities
Ensure that all products dispatched for the export market meet the specified customer specifications in terms of Safety, Quality and Legality
Oversee daily order planning and communication with Head Office on orders and all export
Ensure that Truck departure from the sites – both produce and shipment trucks – are on schedule, communicating/ reporting any variances in a timely manner.
Maintain overall responsibility for coordination of raw material procurement, utilization, dumping and record keeping for such.
Ensure that production is run such that availability is provided after every shift for purposes of cleaning.
Maintain the Facility Fabric integrity
Monitor the utilisation of Packaging materials and labels with a bid of reducing/minimising wastages
Keep all stocks of equipment, crates and staff uniforms and ensure that proper controls and utilisation is observed
Co-ordinate the maintenance/servicing of all machinery and equipment on site
Co-ordinate all preparations for supermarket audits and customer visits
Recruit, train, and maintain competent Production/Quality Assurance team members
Ensure that all staff trainings are done and that key personnel have the requisite skills and competency required for the job.
Monitor of labour efficiency and overtime authorization for Packhouse staff.
Plan and organise for workers transport and liaising with the Transport Manager on the same
Conduct regular worker analysis on performance and making motivational recommendations
Handle all disciplinary cases on site and ensure harmony and good relationship between staff
Your profile
Diploma/Degree in Food Science & Technology, or equivalent
3-5 years’ experience as an Assistant Packhouse Manager in a fresh produce facility
Strong planning and execution skills
Strong business acumen; a
Critical thinker and proactive
Ability to analyze, communicate, manage and prioritize multiple technical issues
Computer literate
Possess proven technical aptitude, leading from the front.
Report writing skills.
