Hostel Caretaker for large Private University Hostel (Rongo University, Migori County)

Some of their common responsibilities include:

• Managing bookings for  rooms  for over 250 student and Enforcing rent collection by updating payments on an online payment spreadsheet against Till receipts or locking doors for delinquent payers 

• supervising a team of Cleaners Cleaning the building common areas including hallways, bathroom, toilets  . Cleaning the above areas when cleaners are not available or on vacation

• Performing landscape duties or supervising others in these roles

• Inspecting the building, including heating, KPLC power, Borehole pump  make sure they are in good working order and and supervising contractors for major repairs

• Performing basic electrical ,  carpentry or painting  repairs and maintenance tasks as required or supervising contractors performing the  repairs

• Monitoring cleaning materials, tools, and furniture and reordering as required

• Locking all doors and windows when not in operation when students are on vacation.

• Adhering to the company’s safety policies to create a safe working environment for everyone and reporting incidents to the Hostel Manager or Hostel Owner

  
  

  Qualification:

  • Certificate, Diploma or 1 Years' experience in similar or relevant Management capacity

  • Basic electrical and carpentry knowledge of building repairs 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, especially good knowledge of spreadsheets a must. Google sheet knowledge a plus 

  • Must be at least 30+ years old is preferred. ID must show 30+ years old

  • Must have a smartphone with Whatsapp. Laptop will be provided for updating student payment online with free WIFI at the hostels 

  • Must have valid ID with no Criminal Record. Certificate of  Good Conduct will be required within 1 month of hire 

  • Preferably coming from Migori county ( Homa Bay Could be considered)  unless willing to relocate

  • Free room, electricity and water but Must be willing to live and stay on site 24x7 with 1 either saturday or sunday off

  • Demonstrate ability in handling 250+ tenant student related issues

  • A team Player
