Job Summary

A recently established restaurant and bar facility in Kirinyaga County, situated about midpoint on the major Kerugoya -Karatina road, and located about 1km from the main tarmac road, is in need of qualified individuals to work in the role of Hotel Supervisor

  • Minimum Qualification: Diploma

Job Description/Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Recruiting, training and effectively and efficiently  supervising staff and ensure disciplined workforce with high Morale and keeps time and respects other people
  2. Run the business profitably and ensure high standards of professionalism and ethical practices
  3. Managing approved budgets and plans, etc
  4. Timely maintaining accurate statistical,  financial  and operational records, inter alia
  5. Ensure planning maintenance work, events and room bookings, etc
  6. Promoting and marketing the business
  7. Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and licensing laws, etc.
  8. Paying close attention to a guest’s requirements and timely review feedbacks and discuss with Director 
  9. Use innovative methods to enhance guest experience
  10. Be aware of the latest hospitality technology trends and use them to build customer relations
  11. Track reviews and manage a hotel’s online presence 
  12. Respond timely  to every negative review in an amicable manner 
  13. Create a buzz online with offers, promos and more 
  14. Profitably manage daily operations and in an effective and efficient way
  15. Create pricing strategies and conduct competition analysis and keep a close eye on them
  16. Implement cloud-based technologies to improve hotel management 
  17. Ensure  employees register is timely updated  and monitor attendances, at least daily and deal with tardiness, absenteeism etc timely 
  18. Hold regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments.
  19. Ensure full compliance with Emfuleni operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards.
  20. Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of Emfuleni’s Operating Budget, profitability, operational , Marketing & Sales targets etc and submitting to Director
  21. Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of Emfuleni, customers, its employees etc.
  22. Ensure reports i.r.o Rooms,Food & Beverage, Admin & General are accurate.
  23. Maximizing revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management practices.
  24. Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads on a daily basis.
  25. Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
  26. Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.
  27. Corporate client handling and take part in new client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required.
  28. Responsible for safeguarding assets of Emfuleni and ensuring you and staff work for the best interests of Emfuleni at all times
  29. Responsible for legalization, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements.
  30. Any other duties assigned by the management/ Director

Requirements: 
  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent hotel professional with outstanding, management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Ideally, a university degree in hotel management or a related field with relevant experience in opening, managing or re-positioning a hotel with clear track record. Excellent computer system, operational and financials vis a vis sales and marketing skills are added advantage.
  • At least 15 to 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, with significant luxury and international experience, ideally including experience in remote locations and  5 to 10 years of experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager.
