Role Purpose
To effectively partner with the site management team to manage the effective implementation of HR Strategic objectives through ensuring alignment of HR objectives and business/site priorities and provision of relevant comprehensive Human Resources solutions which are compliant to legislation and internal policies
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Function as an internal consultant to management and employees by helping them identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions and understanding/representing the employee perspective
2. Work with the Plant Managers to translate business needs into clearly articulated and actionable organization and people requirements
3. Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
4. In liaison with HR group, provide HR guidance and support to the business unit/site across a breadth of areas including talent management, employee development, performance management, change management and employee relations
5. Coordinate and facilitate the entire process of performance management, ensuring timely submission of reports and their analysis within the business unit/site
6. Provide support and guidance to managers during Performance Improvement Plans (
7. In liaison with HR group facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions and work with the business unit/site to ensure plans are actively put into practice
8. Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs
9. Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success Follows up to ensure training objectives are met
10. Effectively use management information to identify trends and proactively provide solutions to address short term to medium term human capital requirements and opportunities and aligning of HR activities with business objectives
11. Prepare business unit/site human resource forecasts in consultation with business unit/site head and HR group through scoping and justification of proposed and existing roles in line with business strategy and recommend optimal staff establishment
12. Facilitate a culture of fair employee relations through managing the internal Disciplinary process within the parameters of labour legislation and Unga Code of Ethics and Conduct as well as establishing and sustaining a professional and appropriate relationship with the Union and other stakeholders
13. In liaison with business unit/site heads, ensure that leave plans are in place and adhered to
14. Review absenteeism and time keeping information for the supported business and raise any potential red flags with the line managers in the area Develop action plans to mitigate and or manage where required
15. Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day to day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance Partners with the legal department as needed/required
16. Assist with labour relations initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement as well as company rules and regulations
17. Oversee regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end reports
18. Interpretation of policies and procedures and assess compliance by all employees within the business unit/site Skills
Experience
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or business related filed.
2. A post graduate diploma in HR
3. Registered member of Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM)
4. Valid HR Practicing Certificate
5. At least 5 years’ HR Generalist or relevant experience
6. Proven track record of dealing with senior management and ability to engage at senior level
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills
8. Strong analytical skills and attention to details
