Job Summary:

The HVAC Instructor at Somali Institute of Technology (SIT) specializes in the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) Technology. This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction and hands-on training to students pursuing associate degrees in HVACR Technology, with a focus on ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigerator repairs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HVACR, including electrical technology, and will play a key role in shaping the next generation of HVACR professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instruction:

- Lead training programs with a specialization in ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigerator repairs.

- Create an immersive learning environment that fosters hands-on experience and critical thinking.

- Develop and maintain course materials, lab exercises, and multimedia resources.

2. Curriculum Development:

- Collaborate with industry experts and partners to ensure the curriculum aligns with the latest HVACR industry trends and practices.

- Participate in curriculum development and revisions to meet industry demands.

3. Student Engagement and Assessment:

- Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and assess student progress.

- Utilize data-informed decision making to continuously enhance teaching methods and learning outcomes.

4. Professional Development:

- Stay current in HVACR technology, electrical systems, and industry advancements by aXending relevant conferences and maintaining required certifications.

- Embrace emerging technologies and pedagogical advances to enhance student learning.

5. Industry Collaboration:

- Foster and maintain relationships with HVACR industry professionals to provide students with real-world insights and opportunities for workforce training.

- Integrate industry best practices and challenges into the curriculum to prepare students for the field.

 

6. Administrative Responsibilities:

- Maintain accurate records of student grades and aXendance.

- Complete administrative tasks, including course outlines, learning objectives, competency assessments, and related paperwork.

- Participate in the selection of textbooks and other program-related administrative duties.

Qualifica4ons:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology or related field is required.

- Minimum of three years of work experience and/or relevant licensure or certifications in HVACR, with a specialization in ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigerator repairs.

- Demonstrated ability to lead specialized HVACR training programs and effectively manage a classroom.

- Strong knowledge of HVACR theory and practical application.
