The National Youth Service (NYS) is a State Corporation established under section 5 (1) of the NYS Act, 2018. The functions of the Service as provided in the Act are to undertake paramilitary training technical & vocational training, nation building programmes and commercialization of its assets to optimize utilization of resources, hence creating a critical mass of skilled Kenyan Youth.
In line with its mandate, the Service is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

Salary Scale NYS: Kshs. 38,270 x 1,470 - 39,740 x 1,520 - 41,260 x 1,710 - 42,970 x 1,920 - 44,890 x 2,000 - 464890 x 2,110 - 49,000 x 2,170 - 51,170 P.M
House Allowance Kshs.16, 500 P.M
Commuter Allowance Kshs. 5,000 P.M

Permanent and Pensionable (P&P).
(a) Duties and responsibilities of Legal Officer I will entail:
Undertaking research on assigned legal issues; Collecting and collating research data: liaising with state the State Law Office and advising on various legal Policy issues.
(b) Person Specification For appointment to this post, the candidate must have:
(i) Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University:
(ii) Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;
(iii) Proficiency in Computer applications; and
(iv) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution

In addition, applicants are required to attach certified copies of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Certificate of clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Credit Reference Bureau and a compliance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
