Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide information resources and services to library users using the library management systems for their research, learning and teaching.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities.
•    Conduct registration of library users in the library management system by facilitating discharging and charging information resources.
•    Process information materials using classification and cataloguing tools for organization and quick access of materials by the library users.
•    Conduct user education to library users using power point presentations and library tours for familiarization of services in the library.
•    Organize library books by use of library classification for easy location by library users.
•    Maintain the institutional repository by updating publications in the systems to ensure that library users are up to date with information received and used. 
•    Charge and discharge materials to library users using the library system for effective service delivery.
•    Management of audio visual materials.

•    Processes new materials, making them ready for checkout. Add

•    Keeps the library organized, clean, neat, and welcoming to visitors.
•    Attending to user needs.
•    Book reservation.
•    Receive stamp and record incoming information materials through accessioning for ownership and security purposes;
•    Shelve information materials by class numbers for easy retrieval by the client
•    Operate Current Awareness Services (CAS) through display of new arrivals and circulation of periodicals to abreast the patrons;
•    Charge and discharge library by library management system for dissemination of information to users;
•    Paste due date labels for stamping due date during circulation process for a clear reminder to the patrons on the return date;
•    Answer routine inquiries, and refer patrons in need of professional assistance to librarians for customer satisfaction;
•    Prepare and paste book pockets by gluing them on information materials to hold slips;
•    Issue reminders to patrons with overdue material through reminders for accountability, equitable sharing of resources and avoid hoarding of information materials; and
•    Implement documentation by filling of library catalogue for easy retrieval of information resources.
•    Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
•    A Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University.
•    Must be computer literate.
•    Three or more years’ experience in similar role.
•    Excellent communication skills.
•    Good leadership skills.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
•    Knowledge of library science
•    Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
•    Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
