The primary Objectives of the Loan Officer are:
1) Marketing and Sales.
2) Client Training.
3) Client Assessment.
4) Credit Decision Making.
5) Loan Monitoring.
a) Find potential clients (individuals or businesses) in need of loans.
b) Sell the company products by explaining to clients the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
c) Persuading these clients to obtain loans, and pay back as per the loan agreement.
d) Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and help answer questions about the process.
e) Help clients apply for loans.
f) Evaluate, analyze and verify the application and documentation to determine the client’s creditworthiness
g) Approve loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications to the loan committee for further verification and approval.
h) Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
i) Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
j) Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers’ needs.
k) Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
l) Work with clients to identify their financial goals and to find ways of reaching those goals.
m) Help better the credit policies, credit lines, procedures and standards in conjunction with senior managers.
n) Analyze potential loan markets and develop referral networks in order to locate prospects for loans.
o) Maintain customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential.
p) Manage performance of the Loan Consultants in the territory.
q) Sit in the loan appraisal committee when called upon
i. A Diploma/bachelor’s or associate degree in sales, marketing or related field will be advantageous
ii. Minimum 2 years’ experience in loan sales position gained in a Credit, MFI, Banking or Financial Institutions with demonstrable ability in providing guidance in all areas of credit operations including processes, systems & models.
iii. Good analytical ability.
