Job Description (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The National Transport and safety Authority was established through an Act of Parliament; Act Number 33 on 26th October . The objective of forming the Authority was to harmonize the operations of the key road transport departments and help in effectively managing the road transport sub-sector and minimizing loss of lives through road crashes. Vision: Efficient, Reliable and Safe Roads in Kenya Mission: To continually improve accessibility of Kenya’s road transport system for all users. Core functions: The main functions of the Authority as outlined in section 4 of the NTSA Act; REF NTSA/05//13Key Duties and Responsibilities Preparing reports on Road Safety Audits, Road Safety inspections , Road Safety Impact Assessment, Accident Investigations etcPreparing progress reports and monitoring the implementation of design standards and guidelinesWorking with consultants on road safety issues and preparing progress reports on consultanciesPreparing Proposals for funding by development partnersMonitoring road agencies on road safety compliance on audits of road safety and network safety performanceMonitor implementation of Black spot programme by other agenciesAnalyzing staff performance and career progression and making appropriate recommendations,analyzing the utilization of the human resource in the Department and advising on proper transfers; andEnsuring correct interpretation and implementation of policies, rules and regulations, supervising junior officers and managing the duty stations. Key Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution;Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;At least ten years relevant work experience, three of which must have been at a middle management position in a large organization;Attended Management Course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution;Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, administrative capabilities and initiative in the general organization and management of Road Safety and a thorough understanding of the Authority’s policies;A registered engineer with the engineering board; andProficiency in ICT.
