Job Description/Requirements
Abt Associates, a global leader in implementing technical assistance programs and research in the fields of economic growth, agriculture, trade, social and environmental policy, and climate change, seeks highly qualified candidates for the anticipated USAID Cross-border Resilience Program (CBR) in East Afria under the Regional Integration and Stronger Economices (RISE) IDIQ, which seeks to increase resilience, strengthen livelihood systems, and expand markets in the Moyale, Karamoja, and Moderna regions.
The project will be structured to strengthen regional systems and institutions that increase flow of affordable and safe food, leading to transformation that improves short and long term capacity to respond to shocks and stresses.
The program’s activities are expected to build systems-level resilience to drought; contribute to reducing humanitarian needs; and build the capacity of governments in the region to prepare for, respond to, and recover from shocks and stresses, both natural and man-made.
All positions will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with some potential for travel to corresponding regions, and are contingent upon project award to Abt Associates.
Market Resilience Director
Under the supervision of the Chief of Party (COP), the Market Resilience Director is responsible for designing the project’s market and economic policy agenda and creating systems to interact with governmental organizations at national, regional and local levels, and collaboratewith non-governmental organizations and the private sector in impacting market resilience.
The candidate must have a Master’s degree and at least 12 years’ experience, including serving in a senior technical position for market policies, livelihoods, community engagement and/or international development project.
