To support this goal, we seek a Marketing & Communications Specialist to support project messaging, awareness & reputation building for BrighterMonday Kenya’s impact projects

Job Mission
The Impact Projects Marketing and Communications Specialist will work with project implementation teams and management to design and manage all aspects of internal and external project communications for the impact projects. S/he will contribute to the development of high-quality knowledge and learning content including data visualisations, success stories, case studies, and other reporting that informs learning activities and adaptive management decisions. S/he will also support the promotion of project activities through key communication channels and will engage critical partners and communities of practice through strategic outreach and innovative communication practices.


Reporting to    •    The Impact Projects Marketing and Communications Specialist will report to the Partnerships Lead with close and direct coordination with the Head of Marketing, the Marketing and Campaigns Manager, the Communications and PR Specialist and the social media marketing team.

What You'll be doing    
•    The role of the Marketing and Communications Specialist shall include the following:-
•    Design, develop and implement an M&E system that will form the foundation for M&E plans and framework development including design of key project performance indicators for all projects to effectively capture project performance and continuously monitor progress.
•    Lead and ensure the integration and quality of all M&E activities and knowledge management components of the projects to track project progress toward set goals and objectives
•    Oversee the collecting, reporting, analysis and visualization of data/information on project activities as well as project database management and use the data to advise on areas of improvement for better project performance
•    Collaborate with the Marketing and PR team and other staff member(s) to ensure the integration of communications and knowledge management activities that complement and report on impact project activities.
•    Assist with the development and execution of impact project’s communications strategy (internal and external) and develop project branding and messaging in line with the project’s approved Branding and Marketing Plan
•    Support capacity building of staff, project team members and implementing partners to effectively communicate about the project to relevant stakeholders
•    Support the preparation and presentation of reports and written communications to funding partners and other stakeholders on the progress and impact of project activities including monthly updates, quarterly progress reports, annual reports, and the final project reports
•    Support the Marketing and PR team in driving and managing the project’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn or other to-be-identified appropriate social media platforms. Oversee other project outreach through identified social platforms and messaging services
•    Work closely with project staff to design project specific communications and outreach strategies, including identification of strategic channels and key influencers, particularly those related to the promotion of opportunities that are in line with project goals and objectives.
•    Contribute to the design and implementation of project activities specifically related to communication and outreach activities
•    Support communication and branding of project events and workshop and ensure the accuracy and consistency of public information materials
•    Assist BrighterMonday Kenya’s Communications and PR Specialist to coordinate press and other media outreach, as might be called upon.
•    Provide support as required to the administration of all project work and any other duties as might be assigned by the line manager
    
Experience    
•    Bachelor's degree in journalism and communications studies, development studies, or any other communications-related field;
•    Diploma level will be considered with additional relevant work experience in communication work within impact projects.
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience drafting reports, documents and outreach/communication materials, and developing and implementing communications plans
•    Experience in development communications on large, complex projects funded by international development agencies such as USAID, UK-AID, EU, etc is highly preferred.
•    Experience leading the planning and implementation of outreach and media events, including press conferences, media interviews, project launches and success stories documentation (written, audio and video).
•    A strong understanding of and/or prior experience working in projects with a focus on youth empowerment is highly desirable.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluency in English and ability to professionally communicate across all levels of an organization and the public
•    Skilled in communication strategic thinking and planning
•    Strong team work and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills with ability to work across various teams, willingness to listen, respect for diversity, demonstrated ability to build consensus and navigate complex operating environments
•    Good time management and personal effectiveness skills, ability to prioritize assignments, handle simultaneous competing tasks and deliver on high time constraints/deadlines
