Job Description/Requirements
The parish, exists, to fulfil the great commission by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and building the kingdom of God by meeting the spiritual, social and physical needs of those within the reach of the St. Andrews Parish. Its mandate is derived and clearly defined in the Holy Scriptures as given in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19).
We are seeking to fill the position of a Deaf Ministry Coordinator. The applicant must be born again and from a recognized church.
Responsibilities
- Be overall responsible for sign language interpretation, planning, coordination and leadership of the hearing-impaired people ministry.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain vital programs to meet the spiritual needs of Hearing-Impaired people.
- Monitor physical access to the Church facilities and functions by hearing impaired people, and make recommendations that will help to make the church fully accessible to them.
- Contribute to the development of appropriate methods to monitor progress and evaluate impact of the project activities and also work as part of a team to implement these activities.
- Assist and facilitate in the process of integrating Hearing Impaired people into the active life of the Church.
- Attend meetings, as required and contribute towards ensuring effective communication across the hearing-Impaired organizations.
- Conduct Hearing Impaired needs assessment, ensuring efficient maintenance of case management records, updating and maintaining accurate data and information on work.
- Responsible for day-to-day activities in the disability ministry.
- Training sign language to the hearing people.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in special education, Social Community,Public Relations or any other relevant degree from a recognized University.
- Advanced certification/diploma in Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) from a recognized institution –Advance stage.
- Fluent and practiced sign language skills (expressive/signing and receptive/ understanding) in a Sign Language environment for a period of at least 2 years.
- Knowledge of the deaf community/deaf culture.
- Should be aged between 27-45years and possess 3 years working experience.
- Must be organized, possess good communication & interpersonal skills.
- Born again Christian who understand and adhere to the PCEA statement of Faith and Church structure.
