Medical Officer – One Hundred and Thirty (130) Posts – V /NO. 282/2020
Salary Scale Kshs. 49,000 – 87,360 p.m. (CSG 8)
House Allowance Ksh.35,000 p.m
Commuter Allowance KShs.8,000 p.m.
Leave Allowance: As existing in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover: As provided by the government
Terms of Service: Three (3) years contract
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
(i) a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
(ii) successfully completed one (1) year Internship and Registered by the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board;
(iii) a Valid Practicing License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board; and
(iv) good interpersonal and communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-
(i) monitoring and providing medical care to patients visiting the hospital;
(ii) admitting patients to the hospital for specialized care;
(iii) giving medical education, explaining tests and procedures to the patients;
(iv) maintaining confidentiality and impartiality and keeping up to date with medical development, new drugs, treatment and medication;
(v) participating in Occupational Safety and Health Work programs;
(vi) performing medical and Surgical operations; and
(vii) preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters
