Job Description

Tharaka Nithi County is one of the forty seven counties in Kenya. It borders the Counties of Embu to the South and South West, Meru to the North and North East, Kirinyiga and Nyeri to the West and Kitui to the East and South East

Requirements for appointment:

Be a Kenyan citizen; Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya; Have completed 12 months internship period; Registered as a Medical Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council; Have a Valid Practicing License; Be of acceptable moral and professional standing; Willing to undertake duties in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time; Certificate in computer application skills from an institution recognized in Kenya will be an added advantage

Duties and responsibilities:

The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management and follow- up; Performing medical and surgical procedures; Responding to emergencies and disasters; Providing health education; Maintaining medical records, health information and data; Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement; Teaching and coaching Medical students, Medical Officer Interns, Nursing students and Interns, Clinical Officer students and interns; Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
