With member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement. Core Functions / Responsibilities: Assist the Protection Coordinator in the overall management and implementation of Protection, GBV and MHPSS components in Somalia, including planning, coordination, and implementation of the component activities.Support counselling to the affected populations to facilitate smooth psychosocial reintegration within family and community as well as identification and timely referral to adequate services for continuum of care.Conduct field visits to the beneficiaries’ sites and monitor developments.Ensure the documentation and filing of all Protection and MHPSS beneficiaries for reference and monitoring including regular update of beneficiaries’ information.Liaise with relevant governmental, non-governmental (NGOs), international organizations as well as other relevant stakeholders including Ministry of Health and academic institutions.Monitor GBV and MHPSS activities including those implemented by partners by reviewing a variety of records, including control of plans, progress reports, project inputs identify issues and propose adjustments as necessary.Provide general support to the assessment of the qualitative and quantitative impact of psychosocial support activities at individual, family and community level.Provide guidance, coaching, training and follow ups in the fields of GBV and MHPSS to other staff and any relevant person involved in returnee’s assistance.Collect and analyze information and prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports on GBV and MHPSS activities.Participate in the development of new projects based on identified needs during project component implementation.Undertake duty travel within Somalia to very challenging areas when necessary.Perform any other duties as may be assigned Required Qualifications and Experience Education Master’s degree in Psychology, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or,University degree in the above fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.ExperienceExperience in Protection response programming especially on GBV and MHPSS;Experience working with GBV survivors and on GBV Prevention and Response programmes focusing on psychosocial support and survivor centered approach;Ability to deliver training, to coach and to manage case workers in GBV case management and psychosocial support and knowledge of and strengthening referral pathways;Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, international organizations, civil society organizations/NGOs, and private sector entities; Work experience in an international context is an advantage;Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; Skills Knowledge and understanding of IOM’s institutional approach on PSEA and related strategies, policies, rules and regulations;Knowledge of the UN system and architecture;Knowledge of mainstreaming best practices and partnership models to ensure coordination of the same across a diversified range of actors; and, ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality, when necessary. Languages Fluency in English and Kiswahili both written and spoken are required. Working knowledge of Somali and Arabic will be an added advantage.
