9. Nurse Manager- VCRH – JOB GROUP “N”- I POST
According to schemes of service- Principle Nursing Officer.
Duties and responsibilities
a. Ensure effective implementation of National and County Government policies and guidelines within the Hospital
b. Deployment of nursing staff according to their qualifications, knowledge and Skills
c. Ensure consistent availability of commodities and supplies for nursing care in the hospital
d. To plan, manage, provide and evaluate nursing care in the hospital
e. To supervise the implementation of nursing care plans and conduct training needs assessment for nursing education activities.
f. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of patient clinical records.
g. Ensure maintenance of established inventory standards for medicines, solutions, supplies and equipment.
h. Coordinate and Convene Nursing Management staff meetings for quality service delivery. Collaborate with other departments in the hospital
i. Initiate and disseminate the KQMH guidelines and participate in quality improvement activities. Ensure implementation of the KQMH guidelines in the nursing department.
j. Develop a training needs assessment for the nursing department. Develop an orientation and CME program for the nursing department.
k. Develop targets and ensuring support to achieve the set targets. Completion of appraisals for the nurses.
l. Ensure the development and dissemination of the departmental work plan and its implementation. Ensure the monitoring and implementation of the performance management process on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
a. Must be a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
b. Must have served in Job Group M for a minimum period of 3 years or it’s equivalent
c. Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with active and valid practicing license.
d. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
e. Must have demonstrated leadership and good performance in the previous assignments
f. Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
g. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Salary Scale: The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to these positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission and other recognized CBAs as applicable.
Terms of Service: All the above posts shall be on a three (3) year contract term renewable based on satisfactory performance.
