The award-winning university library and the imposing Chancellors Tower at Thika Main Campus make the university unique.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in in Nursing from an accredited institution.Must be registered as a Nurse with the Nursing Council.3 years’ experience at Grade 8 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution. Higher Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution. Must be registered as a Nurse with the Nursing Council. 5 years’ experience as a Nurse Assistant or at a similar position in a recognized institution. Key responsibilities Provision of Nursing care and counsellingObserve patients’ vital signs, review and maintain patients records and reports from assistant nurse and where appropriate escalate matters to the chief clinical officer for action.Ensure care and patients assisted in movement within the health centre.Assist doctors while carrying out procedures e.g. taking blood samples, fixing drips, giving medicationCarry out simple procedures like bed bathing, dressing simple wounds while referring difficult procedures to the Chief Clinical Officer.Ensure proper maintenance of patient records.Plan, supervise and co-ordinate nursing careEnsure availability of medical supplies and keep inventory of medical suppliesEnsure cleanliness of patients and the environment.Any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
