Key Roles & Responsibilities:Portfolio Management: Contribute to implementing and managing the (new) programme portfolio by managing key Netherlands funded programmes throughout the activity cycle, working closely with members of the finance and administration team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.Support implementation of relevant centrally funded programmes.Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning agenda. Analysis and advice: Support the delivery of Food Security, and Water and Climate team priorities as outlined in our multi-annual country strategy.Providing technical advice and analysis on climate risk assessment, scenario development and practical ways of integrating environment and climate (adaptation and mitigation) into EKN programs and projects. This also includes ways to promote gender responsiveness and biodiversity mainstreaming.On climate change and its impacts on the objectives of the partnership between Kenya and the Netherlands; analyze and communicate regularly within the embassy and to relevant policy departments in Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.Ensuring implementing partners internalize climate risks in programming and implementation and facilitate the use of climate risk analysis tools for informed decision making.On the Kenya and Netherlands climate policies and political developments affecting climate action and the implication on programming. This is done in close collaboration with the regional climate advisor.On opportunities for collaboration with like-minded partners (development partners, governments, private sector) on climate related initiatives relevant for enhancing food security, integrated water management and renewable energy through a systems approach.On request provide advice and support to broader Embassy team also (including the Somalia team, trade and investment team and humanitarian team) on issues pertaining climate change adaptation, resilience building and climate change mitigation. Stakeholder Management and Climate diplomacy: Build a relevant network amongst climate stakeholders, within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, amongst public institutions, civil society, knowledge institutions, private entities, and development cooperation organizations.Represent the Embassy in relevant sector dialogue fora. (Help) develop effective climate diplomacy strategies for Kenya (and the region) and across climate-related thematic areas, work with local partners and networks in identifying ways to translate ambition to action the ground and the local (county) level, raise the Netherlands profile and provide feedback to HQ. on the ground and the local (county) level, raise the Netherlands profile and provide feedback to HQ Support implementation of the communication plan.Using (social) media effectively, ensuring visibility of the Foods Security and water cluster activities, with a particular focus on Climate change adaptation and resilience building. RequirementsExperience, Knowledge and Competencies: At least a Bachelors Degree in Public Policy Climate Change, Food Security, Water or other relevant fields.At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a., government, embassy, consultancy or international organizations.Experience with climate change analysis of KenyaProven knowledge of the Kenyan climate, food security, water and/or renewable energy sectors, including climate, biodiversity and gender mainstreamingProven knowledge of working in or on programmes pertaining the ASAL areas of Kenya.Experience with project management, monitoring and evaluationA strong network in food security, water, renewable energy, or the ability to quickly build this.Experience in systems approaches that use a landscape or basin focus.Experience in private sector developmentGood knowledge of the English language, orally and written, both technically and for communication purpose.Good social media skillsGood computer skillsGood interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people of all levels.Ability to work well within a multicultural setting In addition, an ideal will also be: Self-starter, takes initiative and can work independently.Strategic and can identify opportunities quicklyStrong team player, has well-developed social skills and is able to build up a network within Kenyan and Netherlands stakeholders.Results oriented and able to manage deadlines.Well organized and flexible, able to deal with several issues at the same time and shift priorities quickly if circumstances require so.He/she has a strong feeling for integrity and is aware of cultural differencesHe/she goes the extra mile, is result oriented and knows how to prioritize.
