Position: Principal Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) Job Group CPSB 04 (1 Post)
Basic Salary: Ksh 99,900 x 5,010 – 104,910 x 5,240 – 110,150 x 5,550 -115,650 x 5,780 – 121,430 x 6,070 – 127,500 x 6,370 – 133,870p.m.
Terms of service: Three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance
Duties and Responsibilities:-
Specific duties and responsibilities will include:
i Initiating the formulation of policies and programs for irrigation development;
ii Coordinate training programs of the staff in liaison with other stakeholders;
iii Supervise the preparation of irrigation tender documents;
iv Validating reports on socio-economic and environmental impact of irrigation development;
v Promote research and innovation in irrigation sector, carry out monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects;
vi Coordinate the planning, designing, construction, operation and maintenance of irrigation systems; and
vii Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment:-
For appointment to this grade, an officer must;-
i. Have served in the grade of Chief Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years; or a Senior Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) who has been in service for a period of not less than 10 years;
ii. A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-systems Engineering, Soil Water and Environmental Engineering, Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering, Biomechanical and processing Engineering or Soil and Water Engineering from a recognized institution;
iii. Be registered as an Engineer with Engineers Registration Board (ERB);
iv. Corporate membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya;
v. Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
vi. Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence as exhibited through understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to the irrigation and drainage function.
