Production Supervisor
Overview:
Our client is a key player in the meat processing industry, specializing in the production of high-quality meat products for both domestic and international markets. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to join our production team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in meat processing, a keen eye for detail, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of industry regulations and standards.
Duties and responsibilities
· Supervision: Oversee and direct the daily operations of the meat processing team, providing guidance, instruction, and support to ensure efficient and effective production.
· Production Planning: Collaborate with management to develop production schedules, allocate resources, and prioritize tasks to meet production targets and customer demands. Ensure all product orders are produced on time in line with the production plan.
· Quality Control: Monitor product quality and implement quality-control programs to ensure products meet specified standards and regulatory requirements for the meat industry. Achieve quality standards for all products produced and shipped.
· Training and Development: Train new employees and provide ongoing training for existing staff to ensure a skilled and knowledgeable workforce proficient in meat processing techniques.
· Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance evaluations for the meat processing team, providing feedback and implementing strategies for performance improvement and skill development.
· Reporting: Generate regular reports on production activities to management for decision-making including output, quality, and any issues or concerns that may impact meat production and product quality.
· Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as maintenance, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure smooth operations and effective communication across all stages of meat processing.
· Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, coordinate with the supply chain team, and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained for uninterrupted meat production. Monitor production inputs and outputs to minimize loss.
· Process Improvement: Continuously assess production processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards in meat production
· Safety Compliance: Ensure that all production activities comply with health and safety regulations specific to the meat industry, identifying and addressing any potential safety hazards. Utilize staff and equipment in a manner that will not jeopardize safety or quality.
· Embrace change and engage others to adopt new processes, solutions, and plans while staying focused on goals and results.
· Ensure standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production. Ensures fixed assets are preserved.
· Advise management on key aspects related to production.
· Ensure the availability of the relevant equipment, tools, and raw materials to support production capacity while initiating recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property as well.
· Perform other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science & Technology or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
- ISO Trained in FSMS 22000, QMS.
· Experience in pork & and beef products is a must.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial capabilities
· At least 8 years of meat processing and packing industry and 4 of those should be in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Must have exceptional planning and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in meat processing supervision or a similar role, with a deep understanding of meat processing techniques and standards.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing production team.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to the meat industry and compliance standards.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in the context of meat processing operations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for fostering a collaborative work environment within the meat processing team.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications for production management and reporting within the meat industry.
· Working knowledge and practical use of a computer to communicate, research, analyze data and present information.
