With over 38 years of experience in implementing its programme, Plan International Kenya (PIK) mainly operates in 12 geographical areas; Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Tharaka-Nithi, Siaya, Kwale, Kilifi, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Marsabit, Turkana and Tana River.


Plan International Kenyaâs (PIK) strategic goal in the next five years is to end teenage pregnancies and end all forms of sexual and gender-based violence against adolescent girls and young women. We aim to help create an enabling environment where girls and young women are safe, valued, equally cared for, and have equal opportunities. PIK will contribute to the global strategy by aiming to reach directly approximately 2.75 million (children, including girls and young women over the period of the strategy 2022-2026 and to reach additional beneficiaries through its interventions.



The role of the Project Coordinator â Seaweed is to ensure successful initiation, planning, implementation as well as provide technical support in the day to day coordination of project interventions related to seaweed farming in Kwale County. The incumbent will be actively involved in stakeholder management between KMFRI and Cascadia seaweed among others. With support from the Project Manager, he/she will liaise with other project teams for synergy and integration of project interventions. He/she will be the main technical resource within the project for upscaling sea weed production in Kwale county, lead in conducting of a gendered market assessment, seaweed value chain analysis and develop suitable and sustainable seaweed enterprises for improved livelihood in the broader scope of the COSME project. 


Qualifications/ experience essential:


A Bachelorâs degree in Agribusiness, Biodiversity conservation, Marine conservation, Natural Resource Management, Climate change or any other relevant degrees  At least 4 yearsâ experience in project management/coordination.  A demonstrated experience and understanding of developing, managing and implementing strong agricultural value chains in field levels.  Must have proven knowledge of or an interest in marine ecosystems  Government stakeholder engagement  Knowledge of women economic empowerment and gender integration best practices  Knowledge and Experience on sustainable Livelihoods  Skills in project planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring Knowledge of mapping systems e. g Geographical Information Systems  Strong Knowledge and experience of community development.  Sound understanding of integrated development issues and rights-based programming.  Conversant with child rights issues and child participatory methodologies.  Knowledge and experience of working with children, youths and women groups  Hold personal values, ethics and attitudes which are in alignment with the principles of the Planâs Safeguarding of Children and Young Persons Policy.  Willingness to sign and adhere to the Plan Safeguarding children and young people policy  Effective team management experience  Ability to use local languages for Coast Region will be an added advantage  Ability to ride and use Motor Bike for field Operations
