PROJECT MECHANICAL ENGINEER (KENYAN CITIZENS ONLY)

Position: Project Mechanical Engineer

Qualification, skills, experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in plumbing, water pumping and water treatment industry

• Experience in designing and installing water pump systems and booster systems on site is required

• Experience in managing a technical team, project planning and management is required

• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, fluid mechanics, plumbing and pumping systems

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks will be an added advantage

• Familiarity with industry standards and codes

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Excellent proficiency in MS word and excel

• Excellent organizational and reporting skills

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Role and Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment used in water treatment plants, water pump systems, booster pump systems, sewage treatment systems, solar hot water and PV systems

• Design and develop technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for the above

• Work and co-ordinate with electrical panel and control engineers to design, develop and troubleshoot electrical panels for water treatment equipment, reverse osmosis plants, sewage treatment plants and booster pump panels and other related equipment

• Co-ordinate, manage and work with the technicians to ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of all products and equipment mentioned above

• Perform calculations and analysis to ensure systems meet performance and safety requirements

• Work with projects team to develop project costings, BOQ’s and evaluations

• Collaborate with operations staff to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or electrical issues pertaining to all installed systems

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity, and provide technical support and guidance to technicians

• Oversee and co-ordinate installations with the technical team including overall project scheduling, co-ordination, implementation and commissioning to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards

• Update management and prepare progress reports for all ongoing projects and open maintenance jobs

• Co-ordinating workshop service, trouble shooting, maintenance, repairs of water pumps, electrical motors, reverse osmosis plants and other water related mechanical and electrical equipment including electrical panels for the above plants

• Write reports detailing system designs, troubleshooting efforts, project outcomes as well as attend project site meetings and report on the same

• Should be hands on as well as comfortable to do related technical work, co-ordination supervision, that may not be outlined in this document for the company, related properties or directors

• Should be familiar with project execution, project reporting, site processes and meeting reporting

Compensation Package

Salary will depend on the candidate’s background and experience, with an indicative range of Gross. Kshs. 80,000 to 90,000.
