Job Summary

To support the project to improve youth employability and attain its objective of increasing employment and earnings opportunities for youth, the Project Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and providing oversight for day to day project activities in order to achieve the set deliverables. This position will also support and represent the project in relevant forums while ensuring the project is strategically aligned to the evolving youth employment agenda.

General Summary and Background
BrighterMonday Kenya in partnership with Creative Management Consultants Ltd is implementing The Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) under The Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs (MIIYA). KYEOP is a Government of Kenya (GoK) flagship project aiming to address the multiple challenges affecting youth employment using a multi-sectoral approach. With a view to increase employment and earnings opportunities for youth between 16 and 29 years of age, the project seeks to improve youth employability by providing various types of training and employment experience in the form of internships and apprenticeships for youth who are without jobs and have experienced extended spells of unemployment or who are currently working in vulnerable jobs. The partnership aims to impact 3,000 youth from 17 counties in Kenya, by matching them with internship/apprenticeships and job opportunities, while supporting employers across various target sectors with the right talent.

Job Mission

This position will also support and represent the project in relevant forums while ensuring the project is strategically aligned to the evolving youth employment agenda.

What You'll be doing    
•    Manage implementation of the Project’s activities and regularly review progress against key performance indicators, facilitate internal and external discussions regarding how best to increase measurable project outcomes
•    Supervise, evaluate and motivate County Mobilizers to ensure the proper running of the Project within the 17 counties; provide an enabling environment for employee performance; and ensure individual and career growth.
•    Develop monthly project work plans in consultation with the Partnerships Lead for fieldwork task schedules, gathering documentation, and liaising with the project partners.
•    Provide project updates on a consistent basis to the Partnerships Lead and other stakeholders about implementation approach, challenges, adjustments, and progress.
•    Consolidate weekly project updates from all the county mobilizers and present one harmonised document on project activities
•    Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on all the key performance indicators to support results of procedures.
•    Assist in coordination of all field project activities and events including venue identification, stakeholder and beneficiary mobilization, invitations distribution, attendance confirmations and any other related duties
•    Assist with developing proposals for submission to prospective Partners
•    Participate in networking events related to the Project areas
•    Provide support as required to the administration of all Project work and any other duties as might be assigned by the line manager
•    Manage relevant Project budgets to ensure cost effectiveness and adequate spending levels are maintained

Experience    
•    Bachelor degree in development studies, social sciences or any related courses.
•    Diploma level will be considered with additional relevant work experience in project management.
•    Minimum of 3 years Project Management experience, 2 years in the impact space managing project processes and execution.
•    Exceptional presentation, report writing and document preparation skills
•    Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and to influence people without direct authority
•    Leadership, strategic and analytical skills
