SECTION 8 : PUBLIC COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA RELATIONS DEPARTMENT
8.1 Public Communications & Media Relations Officer I, Job Grade CASB 6 (CASB 20/8/2021) – 1 Post
Basic Salary: Kshs. 56,370
House Allowance: Kshs. 18,000
Other Allowance: Kshs. 8,000
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Developing publicity and outreach strategies;
ii. Preparing and placing radio and television infomercials;
iii. Developing and reviewing public communications and media relations strategies;
iv. Coordinating County Assembly events;
v. Providing support services for County Assembly public participation;
vi. Analysing articles in the media pertaining to the Assembly and making appropriate recommendations;
vii. Designing, innovating and recommending corporate materials for building Assembly’s brand
viii. Developing the County Assembly website content;
ix. Provision of protocol services;
x. Identifying appropriate media to disseminate information on Assembly activities to the public;
xi. Initiating departmental procurement process as per the approved procurement plan;
xii. Identifying departmental training needs based on performance appraisal reports;
xiii. Drafting departmental budget proposal; and
xiv. Mentoring and coaching staff.
Requirements for Appointment
a) Minimum experience of three (3) years in the relevant field;
b) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Communication, Public Relations, Mass Communication or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
c) Proficiency in computer applications;
d) Registration with a relevant professional body; and
e) Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance.
f) Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
