Job Description (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) was established in under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU). It is an inter-governmental organization and currently has contracting Member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Regions. RCMRD functional programmes have moved away from service technology framework (e.g. Remote Sensing, Geodesy, Cartography etc.) to problem solving applications in natural resource and environmental management. RCMRD is now providing service on demand driven basis. RCMRD is now moving into the future with confidence and endeavors to live up to its values of upholding the highest standards of services to its customers and continuously improving the quality of services and products.Reporting to the Technical Lead GAIINS Project, the Research Assistants will undertake the following:Duties and responsibilities Attend training and assist with calibrating/pretesting field instruments as needed.Assess respondents’ eligibility and obtain written informed consents.Conduct one on one interviews and record responses.Participate in data quality assurance procedures.Ensure participants data is kept confidential.Be available full time for the entire period of engagement. Qualifications and experience Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Gender, GIS, Remote Sensing, Climate Change, Environmental Science, Statistics and related fieldsBasic understanding of research ethicsExcellent communication skillsAt least one year experience in ODK based data collection in rural areasFluency in English and SwahiliShould have an android based phone with OS 5.0 or higherPrevious experience working in related themes is an added advantage
